[Forum] Main Street Stage - APRIL's FOOL - Crew Call!

Hi All,

My first official act as the new President and Exec. Director of Main Street
Stage: a work day on Sunday, April 1 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM! While the
irony of doing this on April's Fool day is not entirely lost on me, I think
that it will be a great way to kick off Spring. And I am sure that if we all
bring a bag of chips, some dip, a casserole, or maybe some home-made
brownies or a bottle of pop, that a good time will be had by all.

Liz Urban, President of Mill City Productions, is going to put out a call to
her email list, too. Given that some of you are bound to be on Liz's list as
well as mine, forgive the duplication; we're only asking for one pound of
flesh - not two!

The Stage needs a thorough Spring Cleaning. If as many of us as possible
show up, the work will go quickly. Please let me know if you plan to attend
the crew call. Consider which area(s) you would be most interesting in
helping to tidy up so I can compile crew lists and tasks: Scene Shop,
Costume Shop, Properties Shop, Back Stage Cleanup, Stage Touch-up Painting,
Front of House Clean Up (including storefront windows/display). Also please
let me know who is willing to head up particular work crews and to help us
stay on task.

OK. Here's the part where I get to wield the guilt club. I know that none of
us likes to spend several hours on a Sunday cleaning and organizing - and
that we ALL have other things to do, family, friends, work, sleep, you name
it. We're busy people. But the Main Street Stage can only work when we come
together as a community of artists and audience members to support the many
things the Stage does. Whether it be staging cutting-edge scripts that
showcase our talented actors and directors, supporting regional playwrights
by providing a space that is friendly to new work, offering free
Wednesday-night acting workshops with Bruce MacDonald, educational outreach
to middle-school kids by Melissa Quirk, improvisation workshops and
performances organized by Alexia Trainor, or other exciting plans just
waiting for YOU, the fact is that we have to work together from time-to-time
to make it all possible. In a very real sense the Main Street Stage is YOUR
Theatre. It cannot survive without YOU. So please, if you can possibly carve
a few hours from your schedule to help us on Sunday, April 1 from 11:00 AM
to 4:00 PM, I would be personally grateful to you. And please feel free to
forward this to anyone else who might be interested in becoming involved
with theatre at the Main Street Stage!

I hope to hear from YOU soon!

Edward
