i would tend to agree (though for different reasons) that we should get
broader participation in the survey before trying to draw any real
conclusions from the data. i'd love to see a more representative number
of participants. so please, by all means, pass that link along to anyone
that you think might have valuable input:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=685553519483

as of today there are 23 responses to the survey which is about 1/3 of
the folks subscribed to this list. if folks are willing to email the
link to people not on this list, i would think we could get to a more
representative segment of the art community.

once we reach a comfortable level of participation (say 50 or 60), i'm
happy to draw up a slightly sanitized pdf that we can share with local
arts organizations, local government or even the press if people are
comfortable with that.

also - if people think that this is useful, it might make sense to do a
more formalized survey based on the feedback we get here. i put the
questions together as off-the-cuff guesses at what important issues
people seemed to want to explore, but it would probably make sense to
involve local arts organizations in developing a set of questions based
on their experiences in the "real world". if anyone finds that
compelling, let me know and maybe we can form a small group to a)
connect with local orgs and b) get a broader participation by doing some
printed surveys in addition to the online survey.
